At Hluhluwe River Lodge there is a short hike of 2 kilometers starting from the lodge named the Red Duiker Trail. There is nothing more relaxing than walking in a indigenous forest and at Hluhluwe River Lodge hikers and trail runners are spoiled for choice. Besides the Duiker Trail there is also the Nguni Trail which meanders along the Hluhluwe River to Lake St Lucia where there is a spectacular view of Hell’s Gate at the river mouth. The Nguni Trail is also a great bike path and can be ridden on one of the lodge’s mountain bikes available for hire to guests and visitors. At False Bay Park just a 7 kilometer drive from Hluhluwe River Lodge one can enjoy the Mpophomeni and Ingwe Trails which meander through one of the best preserved stands of rare Sand Forest in the region. There is also a walk to the fossil beds from Sandy Point where fascinating Ammonite fossils lie preserved in the rocky deposits and sediment. Definitely worth a visit during your stay at Hluhluwe River Lodge and that  forest walks are good for the soul.
